Maria E. Castellanos
Maria E. Castellanos is a full-time Paralegal at Rab & Khan, LLP. who concentrates primarily on employment-based immigration and commercial litigation. Maria assists the attorneys at Rab & Khan with all of their matters including, interviewing and communicating with clients, drafting legal documents, performing legal research, preparing federal and state court filings, assisting with the preparation for trial, arbitration and mediation, and conducting legal investigations.
Maria also has extensive experience in family and criminal law. While at her previous employer, Maria assisted approximately twenty attorneys with matters involving family immigration, asylum and deportation, divorce, child custody and support, parentage, orders of protection, expungement, DUI, traffic violations, civil and contract litigation, mortgage foreclosure, loan modification, and probate. Maria was also responsible for training other paralegals and drafted a paralegal handbook containing forms, procedures and practices to address a variety of different cases.
Maria received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she studied Political Science with a concentration in Urban Politics. She is also active in her community and has worked for the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) and Project LEAD, an organization focused on increasing civic participation in the Hispanic community. Maria also volunteers to increase the Latino vote in the Back of the Yards and Little Village neighborhoods. She has been a member of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois’ JD Mentors Program since 2006.
